Global Mom: An Interview with Melissa Dalton-Bradford

It's rare to find a book that enhances your knowledge of world cultures while embracing you as a cherished family friend and confidante, yet Melissa Dalton-Bradford does exactly this in her memoir, Global Mom: Eight Countries, Sixteen Addresses, Five Languages, One Family. More than a collection of tales of family globetrotting, Global Mom recounts with humor and honesty her family's journey through life-altering circumstances, and the result is a book that brims with touching truths and memorable moments.

Weathering the Tides of Family Life: Seasons Of Separation & Single Parenting

I've heard this twice lately: to children, there is no such concept as quality time; instead, all they discern is time spent together or apart. The more we're exposed to commercials, the more we're left with a nagging sense of dissatisfaction. If we have to be convinced that we need a product, we really don't.

Here are three simple steps to stop the flow of advertising into your home:

Le temps de pénitence: Remembering the Swiftness of Time

As a young teacher I once invited members of a pétanque club to teach my students how to play their sport (a bowling game similar to bocce). One of the two members who came was an elderly Swiss man who gave me an envelope containing two poems he'd typed. We never met again before his death, but I cherish his gift. When I think of the importance of intentional living, I remember this poem written by René Seghetini:
